Israeli-born cellist Maya Beiser has captivated audiences worldwide with her virtuosity, eclectic repertoire and relentless quest to redefine her instrument’s boundaries. A featured performer on the world’s most prestigious stages, Beiser has appeared as a soloist at the Sydney Opera House and New York’s Lincoln Center and even went viral with her 2011 musical TEDTalk. For her Houston debut at the Wortham Theater Center’s Cullen Theater, she’ll perform alongside drummer Glenn Kotche of the groundbreaking American rock band Wilco, as well as Jherek Bischoff on bass. You’ll hear Maya’s latest project All Vows, which explores the dichotomy between the physical, external world we inhabit and the inner landscape of our secret selves. It premiered at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in March 2014 and features music from her newest rock covers album Uncovered, which includes the music of rock-and-roll greats like Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Led Zeppelin.
