A Chat with Solfedge Studio: Community Music School
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Independently owned and operated. 200 square-foot studio with natural lighting…. Innovative, student-centered teaching. Midwestern hospitality.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Students will have access to the Solfedge Studio music library and will be provided with pencils, music binder, and water. Students need not bring anything to their first lesson.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I wanted to start Solfedge Studio because I believe every community should have an accessible music school. I love that each human voice is unique. My goal in teaching is to afford students an understanding of their voices so they may sing and speak everyday with confidence!
What do you love most about your job?
I love those “aha” moments when students unearth a vocal sound they did not know they had. The average person goes through life accessing only a fraction of his or her vocal capacity. Those moments of self-discovery are priceless to students, and knowing I had some hand in it is priceless to me.
