What You'll Get
Creating a 2-D rendition on canvas requires either the ability to masterfully wield a paintbrush or the strength to flatten a fruit bowl. Discover your artful brawn with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a Canvas, Cocktails ’n More art class at South Broadway Art Project (a $25 value). Classes are held Thursday and Friday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The nonprofit South Broadway Art Project broadens artistic horizons by hosting art classes for all skill levels. Join the brush whisperers during a guided Canvas, Cocktails ’n More class to learn a new craft while sipping a favorite potable. Students bring their own drinks and snacks to the session, and in most cases the center provides the art materials as well as wine glasses and silverware for consuming the artworks upon completion. The topic of the workshop rotates weekly, with pupils studying the landscapes of Tuscany before dreaming up an Italian getaway to splash on their canvas during the August 26 session. Future classes will encourage artistes to paint cubist self-portraits and make bowls out of old scrap paper.
South Broadway Art Project welcomes all participating artsmiths to present their work during student art-gallery events, hosted four to five times a year. Students can display their masterpieces in hopes of inspiring other artists or covering up the taco-sauce stains they made on the gallery wall. This Groupon can also be applied toward one month of kids' art classes or toward kids' birthday or Arty parties, during which tykes sculpt or paint projects in one of a dozen party themes.
