But in The Madwoman in the Volvo, Loh and her friends have decided to barrel into menopause on their own terms, heading to the desert for a weekend of debauchery and half-nude stoners at Burning Man festival. This hilarious ride through midlife madness is based on the hugely popular memoir of the same name by NPR commentator Sandra Tsing Loh.
