Guitarist Julian Lage was once considered a music prodigy. So much so that by the age of 8 he was the subject of the Oscar-nominated documentary Jules at Eight. Since then he's gone on to set the jazz world on fire, and at the ripe old age of 27 is one of the genre's most compelling and charismatic jazz guitarists since Pat Metheny. Lage plays electric guitar in a way that sounds almost acoustic, and he leans toward folksy, pastoral sounds that nevertheless have a bite.
