Taking a boat cruise is a luxurious way to relax and see the sights, unlike boarding a dolphin equipped with a saddle, which usually results in whiplash and water-filled lungs. Cruise the blue in comfort with this Groupon.

A half-hour before their three-hour cruise sets off, guests board the riverboat Southern Empress at Sunset Harbor Resort. Dinner cruises include full meals with a typical menu of drinks, salad, stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a choice between cheesecake or peach cobbler, whereas cocktail cruises take place later in the evening and offer drinks for purchase. As the ship drifts down Lake Conroe, live performers play music on the dance floor of its climate-controlled deck. Click here for a cruise calendar.
Southern Empress Cruises
Floating across the surface of Lake Conroe, the Southern Empress might as well be drifting back in time. The ship perfectly resembles a nineteenth-century sternwheeler riverboat, with two 18-foot paddles churning the water behind it. Inside the three sprawling decks, chandeliers gleam against embossed tin ceilings, and accents of brass and velour flaunt the same Victorian style as the floral carpets.
The boat does boast some modern amenities, however—two of its decks are climate-controlled, which means that its signature cruises can run year-round instead of stopping during iceberg-mating season. They can also head outside to the split-level third deck, which affords the best view of the lake and surrounding forest. Hosts for special engagements, such as weddings or corporate parties, can even reserve this scenery for themselves during private charters.

“Would have nice to have been able to go out; cruise canceled and remained docked due to weather: would appreciate notification and raincheck if need be Also, food was less than desireable Not horrible, but expected more Understand operational costs, and do not expect extravagant meal, but at least better quality, maybe a menu to choose from and possibly wine offered with dinner Also more bar choices Otherwise, would welcome opportunity again”
“don't expect the food to be great...but it is still a good experience”
