Q:

Hi. I have a variety of VHS and Hi8 tapes. Some of the Hi8 tapes only contain a few minute of footage and some may contain up to an hour or more of footage. How is the pricing hadled for a Hi8 tape that has say 30 minutes? Will you combine several Hi 8 tapes into one DVD? I looked at your website, but I did not find this specific situation with regard to Hi8 tapes. Thank you . Ken N.

Kenneth N.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Hey Kenneth, we charge a flat rate per tape, regardless of length! For quality reasons, we do not combine tapes. We only do one-to-one conversions. Thanks!

Q:

I have 11 carousels of 140 slides each, which is 1540 slides of pictures I took back in 1976. My kids have never seen these pictures because my projector is broken. Let's call it 1,600 slides with a few not in a carousel. What would the cost be to convert them all to a CD or memory card ?

Thom M.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Hey Thom, it would be about $944 for 1600 slides. Thanks!

Q:

Would I have the option of waiting for the film to be converted in your facility or is this through the mail only?

Melba K.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Hey Melba, we are a mail-in service. Even if you are a local customer in Chattanooga, TN, it still takes about 4-5 weeks for processing. Thanks!

Q:

I have 19 8mm (from the 50's and early 60's) that I want to put on DVD but I don't know how many feet are on the reels (3" rolls) or how many DVD's it would take to calculate the cost. Can you give me a ballpark figure for what I would need.

sandi g.  asked on  Feb 3, 2013

A:

Hey Sandi, you can view our film prices based on size of reel at southtree.com/order. Thanks!

Q:

I need to transfer mini DV, VHS, and Super 8 recording of school performance-not copyright protected. Just personal community college concerts. I want to be able to make copies to give to my students. Will I be able to do so with this Groupon? I've tried to do Windows Movie Maker with other companies, and am unable to do so. Thanks

Karen A.  asked on  Feb 3, 2013

A:

Hey Karen, yes, we can transfer those for you. You can view prices at southtree.com/order. Thanks!

Q:

Approximately how many of the 3" 8mm film reels can be transferred for each of the $35 coupon deals? Is there any way to "preview" the reels of old film at your location to identify the "keepers" to be transferred. I still have the 8 mm projector, but don't want to risk damaging the film. Not sure if the old projector would even work now. Monte

Marelia G.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Hey Marelia, there isn't a way to preview those before transfer. You can convert 6 3" reels for the $100 Groupon. Thanks!

Angel K.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Yep, Angel, it looks like you got it!

Q:

I have a number of 3" 8mm reels from the 1960's. Over the years, they've been stored in various, non-climate controlled, locations. What happens to the groupon should some or all be unsuitable for conversion?

Jim M.  asked on  Feb 2, 2013

A:

Hi Jim! As long as the film reels do not contain mold or cannot be unwound, there should not be a problem converting. We also offer many other services at southtree.com/order
