Q:

I am interested in 35mm slides to digital. Do I understand correctly that $35 for $100 regular price will get you 169 slides converted to same number of digital images? Would you say that, in general, the digital image is at least as good as the 35 mm images? I purchased a slide to digital converter for around $75 and did not feel the digital image measured up. What would shipping be for 169 slides? Where are you located? Thanks for your help. Kay B.

A:

Hi SK, Yes that sound right. The image quality is great. They're high resolution and you can edit, store, or make new prints from there. Return shipping is always a flat-rate of $9.95 per order. Our processing studio is in Chattanooga, TN. Thanks!

Q:

I have a few questions: 1. I have some tapes that were recorded on my camcorder before it was repaired by the store I bought it from. After the repair they must have aligned the heads differently because the tapes recorded before the repair would no longer play properly. Can your equipment adjust tracking to allow for these types of variances in the source MiniDV tapes to insure a good copy is made to a data DVD for all the tapes? 2. Do you monitor the transfer process and combine multiple MiniDV tapes onto a single data DVD if the source tape is not very full? 3. Similarly, if a MiniDV tape has a gap of one to several minutes before the next recorded session, how do you ensure that follow on sessions are copied to the DVD, and will the blanks/gaps be recorded on the DVD?

A:

Hi Chuck, It's hard to say. We'd simply have to try. But often this is more of an art than science. For quality each tape is provided its own DVD. We do not combine them. Our technicians monitor the conversions particularly in the beginning to ensure good playback. We do not provide any editing to remove blank spaces, but the DVDs do have chapters every 5 minutes to quickly scan ahead and back on your disc. Thanks!

Q:

I have a 40 year old Super 8 movie that is absolutely priceless to me (early shots of my daughter). I would like to have it transferred to DVD, but honestly concerned about modern automated processes that could possible damage the original tape beyond repair. Obviously the film is old, it was originally edited and therefore has many splices, because of use it has a number of missing sprockets. Have you had experience with such a situation and can I be assured that you have the capability to handle this job and return my film to me in the condition in which you received it? It is a 300 foot reel, how could the groupon be applied to its transfer? Would I be able to use multiple groupons if needed? Thanks

Duane L.  asked on  Apr 13, 2013

A:

Hi Duane! We are not able to process film that has missing sprockets at this time, but normal film splices are fine. Thanks!
