Early humans developed the ability to sprint to chase down sprightly prey and invented long-distance running to escape from slowly approaching glaciers. Follow in their fossilized footsteps with this Groupon.
$66 for Entry to the Spartan Race (Up to $133 Value)
On Saturday, October 12, participants gather at Abbott Sports Complex at 8 a.m. before taking off on the approximately 3-mile Nebraska Spartan Sprint Race, which is an obstacle course. Racers who complete the course receive a finisher's medal, and all racers receive a spectator ticket and an "I'm Training for a Spartan Race" t-shirt by mail if they register within a month of purchase. Those aged 21 and older also receive a free beer ticket.
Extreme athletes banded together to design Spartan Races' intense courses orchestrated over standardized distances, each strewn with natural and man-made obstacles to test mind-body fitness, resilience, stamina, and strength, designed to leave participants exhausted and exhilarated. In waves of 200, runners collect smudges and stains as they perform box jumps, haul heavy sandbags, and juke feral linebackers. Depending on where in the world they're participating, the course may be as short as 3 miles or, for extremely practiced athletes, as long as a full marathon.
