Camps are designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Biology camp compares animals’ natural defenses including dinosaurs’ claws, birds’ beaks, and deers’ antlers, and Chemistry camp explores the reactions of chemical formulas through hands-on experiments. During Space-Explorer camp, kids can map a magnetic field and use gyroscopes and the electromagnetic spectrum to learn about our place in the universe. Students in Marine-Science camp explore the deep by modeling tidal basin, creating a shell board, and learning about unusual sharks. In Physics 101, youth engineer simple machines that move with a motor and batteries, and Camp Last Chance takes the innovation further by building their own wireless, remote-controlled racecars. About Spectrum of Science Foundation
"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." This simple motto on Spectrum of Science Foundation's website encapsulates the way the foundation's teachers help children learn to love science. Instead of being subjected to dry lectures and tiring moonwalks, students develop solar-powered craft, build geodesic domes, and raise their own carnivorous plants, thereby discovering for themselves how awe-inspiring science can be. After-school science labs, class visits, and summer camps use these fun-filled techniques to explore the hard sciences, including physics, chemistry, biology, aeronautics, and marine science. To ensure every student has a chance to learn about their world, Spectrum of Science Foundation also offers scholarships.
