What You'll Get
Chefs' ovens burn much hotter than conventional ovens, allowing them to quickly roast meats and melt glacier chunks into gourmet ice water. Enjoy professional cooking with today’s Groupon: for $59, you get $120 worth of Southeast Asian dinner cuisine at Spice Market.
Inspired by Southeast Asia's colorful street food, chef and owner Jean-Georges Vongerichten's team of flavor masters assembles a menu of sumptuous seafood, grilled meats, and noodle dishes. Named one of Jezebel's 100 Best Restaurants in 2008, Spice Market is nestled in the sleek W Atlanta Midtown hotel. Spiced chicken samosas slip-n-slide into miniature pools of cilantro yogurt ($9.50), and spoons search out the honeydew gazpacho soup's spicy grilled shrimp, cooled by lime, mint, and miniature windmills ($7.50). Char-grilled chicken lounges in kumquat lemongrass dressing ($18), and a sweet chili glaze coats wok-charred eggplant sprinkled with peanuts ($9). Chefs sauté snappers, plate them with asparagus and shitake mushrooms, and twirl the dish in a sesame-vinaigrette sauce ($24) during heated waltzing competitions around the kitchen, and grilled strip steak is courted by the savory flavors of garlic, coriander, and sesame ($32).
Bottles of wine and handcrafted cocktails, such as the Spice Market sangria ($11), encourage groups to linger beneath the sheer panels of hanging lights as they recline on silky yellow-green and purple pillows or sneak bites of verdant bamboo leaves.
