The Spirits of '76 Ghost Tour takes thrill-seekers on a walking tour of more than 20 scary sites and haunted hangouts around Philadelphia. You’ll roam cobblestone streets by the light of glow sticks, which repel disturbed spirits and attract ravers. Guides relate the bone-chilling histories of Edgar Allan Poe, Philly's own Master of the Macabre, and Leo Callahan, a 1923 escapee from Eastern State Penitentiary. Your ears and spine will tingle with tales about the patriotic ghosts of Independence Hall, the spirited spirits of Carpenters' Hall, the paranormal happenings on Pine Street, and the mysterious beat-boxing statue of Ben Franklin at Library Hall. Fix eyeballs on the city's old Hollywood haunts, including sites from The Sixth Sense.
The tour will also tread the hallowed, haunted grounds of Holy Trinity Church, St. Mary's Church and Cemetery, and the Liberty Bell, searching for the hidden habitats of hunchback bell-ringers. Reservations are highly recommended to wander the spirit-soaked streets and hear the dulcet tones of serenading specters.
