First red flag: when I booked my appointment by phone, the person who said they were “Angel” asked me to send a photo of myself and my date of birth. As someone who has been reading tarot cards for over 20 years, I know this is not required for a legitimate tarot reading, so I was immediately skeptical. Second red flag: the person who later called me to complete the session also claimed to be “Angel,” but sounded like a completely different person than the one I initially spoke with. Third—and most concerning—there was no tarot reading at all. No cards were mentioned, no cards were pulled, and no tarot interpretation was given. Instead, she said she was “reading my aura,” and it felt scripted and generic. Within about 8 minutes, she began excessive flattery, telling me I was extremely special, had powerful gifts, and that I could only go so far on my own. She then claimed I had negative energy placed on me by a past lover (essentially a curse), which is a very common scam tactic, followed by an upsell for an additional $275 to “remove” it. This exact pattern asking for photos/birthdates, claiming curses, and pressuring for large additional payments—is well documented in tarot scam warnings. I’ve attempted to report this to Groupon multiple times and have not received a response. She may be legitimate, and I could be wrong—but as a seasoned tarot reader, this experience strongly resembled a scam. If you book a tarot reading, tarot cards should actually be involved. Proceed with caution.
