The Mediterranean Sea shaped some of the world's most ancient civilizations, who gathered by its shores to dive for the delicious falafel, pita, and gyros growing beneath its crystal waves. Transport to this legendary culinary coast with today's Groupon to Spiro's South in South City. Choose between the following dining options:
- $12 for $25 worth of dinner fare and drinks
- $7 for $15 worth of lunch fare and drinks (available 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Monday–Friday)
Family owned and operated for 33 years, Spiro's South serves up a flavorful fusion of Mediterranean and American cuisines in a casually elegant environment. As patrons settle in at their crisply dressed tables in the eatery's airy dining room, fresh-baked bread with butter serves as a prelude to the dinner menu. A culinary circus accompanies each order of the saganaki, or flaming cheese, wherein a daring server joins diners tableside to douse a pyre of blazing goat cheese with brandy, adding fiery pizzazz while eliminating airborne moustaches. Fortifications of fresh veggies and potatoes sidekick entree platters, which range from broiled cuisine such as beef kebobs ($19), to oceanic tastes such as salmon dijon ($18.50) and pan-seared sea scallops ($19.25).
- The first time Spiro's was recommended by our hotel. To our surprise, we found this restaurant to have the best Greek food we've ever had. The restaurant is warm and inviting. The restaurant is family owned. You are treated as family and made to feel very welcome. – sresje, TripAdvisor
- I would not call this place specifically Greek, however. Many of the items on the menu are flat out American. There are tons of steaks and pastas for people to order who are not so into Greek food, which is actually quite convenient for my family. But I always order the Greek dishes and I have never been disappointed. The flaming saganaki is a must order. Like all good Greek places there are plenty of OOMPAS when they light the cheese on fire at your table. – Amanda Z., Yelp
