Four levels suit different skill sets: Level 1 courses teach how to hold one’s breath; Level 2 students work on unassisted swimming; Level 3 students learn the freestyle stroke; and Level 4 students learn rotary breathing and the backstroke.

Five separate class levels teach basic swimming skills. Grade School 1 shows tentative swimmers how to hold their breath and use a kickboard, while Grade School 2 tackles advanced freestyle and the backstroke. Teachers in Grade School 3 instruct beginning divers from the pool deck and help them work on swimming endurance.
