Strutting in heels at the library is good modeling practice, but it rarely results in mega contracts thanks to librarians hogging all the best sexy glasses. See local talent at a more appropriate venue with today's Groupon: for $15, you get two general-admission tickets (a $30 value) to Spokane's Top Model, presented by Red Eye Promotions. The show will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Knitting Factory.
The annual Spokane's Top Model features eight local boutiques, eight salons, and 40 aspiring models in competition for prizes and career-launching exposure. A red-carpet-preview event kicks off at 6 p.m., complete with paparazzi, interviews with Spokane Coeur d'Alene Living magazine, Spokane Savvy magazine, and Jackie Brown of 92.9 ZZU, and live strutting analysis from the Ministry of Silly Walks. Come 7 p.m., the models, boutiques, and salons will be judged by that guy you always see at the grocery store, plus fashion-industry reps from Paul Mitchell Spokane, Seattle Fashion Week, Dlist Magazine, and Glamour Rock PR.
Just like important political elections, the outcome is decided by four judges, with everyone else acting as a fifth judge, voting for their favorite via SMS text message. Contestants compete for an all-expenses-paid trip to walk the runway at Seattle Fashion Week, as well as for exposure-producing photo shoots, modeling contracts, and media packages.
