Due to the large number of ghosts they can hold, haunted houses are consistently scarier than cursed sleeping bags, possessed lean-tos, and ectoplasmic studio apartments. See the gurus of ghoul up close and discernable with today's Groupon: for $10, you get one admission (a $20 value) to Spooky Hollow's Haunted Trail and Hayride in Darnestown. This deal is redeemable on any of Spooky Hollow's ominous dates of operation, including October 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31, and November 1.
Winding through Valley Mill's 60-acre forest, the Haunted Trail at Spooky Hollow snakes across a mysterious land filled with living, breathing night-scaries, terrifying props, and shoulder-shuttering sound effects. Guided by the flicker of dim candlelight, visitors journey through the forest for 25 scream-tingling minutes of surprises, shocks, and mentionable memories. This two-for-one fright fest also gets you admission to the Hollow Hayride, a well-padded roll through the oldest part of Valley Mill forest sprinkled with random acts of non-touching violence, which are scary nonetheless. More than just spooky, Spooky Hollow's grounds are designed with safe, interactive, and edible areas for all ages, including food vendors, carnival games, and accessible bathrooms for people with nice pants.
All dates and times are weather permitting.
Although there aren't many online reviews for Spooky Hollow Haunted Trail, it was featured in the Gazette:
- The Valley Mill crew knows that scary is not for everyone. Graveyard scenes, the mad butcher’s lair and the haunted pond all come with fog, scant candlelight and costumed actors along the trail through the woods. Heck, just the trail through the woods, dark and lonely at night, is probably scary enough for some. – Chris Slattery, Gazette
