At Spotlight Taylor 10, the glow of flickering films bounces off the giant screen of a cushy theater and pours into the eyes of up to 500 moviegoers gathered for late-night viewing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. After arming themselves with popcorn, a fountain drink of their choice, and a burning desire to rock, guests settle into comfy stadium seating to partake of the cult classic. Guests cheer on Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) as they wander the halls of Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s (Tim Curry) twisted castle, home to the singing and dancing visitors from the distant planet Transsexual, which was finally acknowledged as our solar system’s ninth planet. The castle’s merrymakers are celebrating the unveiling of Rocky Horror, the doctor’s Adonis-like creation, but when Brad and Janet arrive, all plans start to unravel. The movie, famed for its heavy audience participation, encourages guests to sport costumes, supply their own props, and belt out famous tunes including “Time Warp,” “Sweet Transvestite,” and whatever muzak is playing in the bathroom.
