A dental professional begins the dental-implant process by evaluating the mouth and taking an iCAT 3-D scan. After extracting the targeted tooth, the technician inserts the Nobel Biocare implant, drilling a titanium steel rod into the jawbone. At this point, patients receive a temporary crown and the initial appointment is complete. Patients return to the office once a month for about four months (lower teeth) or six months (upper teeth) until the implant has healed. Then an oral specialist attaches the abutment and takes impressions for a permanent porcelain crown. The implant process is contingent on healing time, which varies by individual.<p>
