Raised in Captivity is a comedy all about guilt, neuroses, self-punishment and existential dread -- you know, funny stuff. In all seriousness, the play, presented by Orange County's STAGEStheatre, uses black humor to illustrate the unique human qualities that unite us all. The story follows a pair of estranged fraternal twins who reunite at their late mother's funeral: Sebastien is reeling from the recent death of his partner, but his rattled therapist is off dealing with issues of her own; Bernadette and her flighty husband, Kip, are questioning their marriage in lieu of an unplanned pregnancy. Can the siblings mend their relationship even as their personal lives spiral out of control? See the play New York Magazine called "funny, original, imaginative and possessed of a furious energy."
