This musical premiere may be set in 1920s Chicago, but its main character goes by the name of Texas, and it was written and developed by a pair of Houstonians, so you know you're in for a rip-roaring good time. Texas, the glam doll that owns the speakeasy known as The Reading Room, welcomes you to her underground club, where you'll meet the various regulars -- who definitely have some stories to tell. With great songs by the likes of Cole Porter and George Gershwin and fabulous jazz-dance numbers, Speakeasy takes you back in time for a thoroughly immersive night of entertainment at the Obsidian Theater.
Total running time is two hours, and there’s a 15-minute intermission.
The show is intended for mature audiences.
