At bars, beer can be served either in a pint glass or a big glass shoe that the bartender says was left there by a huge Cinderella. Have what she's having with this Groupon.
$12 for One Ticket to Stanley's Northeast Beer Festival ($25 Value)
On October 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., more than 20 breweries will occupy Stanley's Northeast Bar Room for a festival that includes more than 75 different beers. With this Groupon, customers get unlimited sampling of all beers during the festival. Visiting breweries include Guinness, Goose Island, and Stella Artois, and firkins (small casks) from Surly Brewing Co., Fulton Beer, Bell’s Brewery, and Lagunitas Brewing Company will be available. Samples of Crispin ciders brim with the flavors of American apples, allowed to shine through by subtle touches of honey or cane sugar, and offerings from Ommegang lean heavily on Belgian traditions. The festival also features specialty booths populated by hand-rolled cigars and advocates from the Minnesota Beer Activists. Redeem your wristband starting 9/30/12 or beginning at 1 p.m. on the day of the event.
Stanley's Northeast Bar Room
In the shapes of fruit, forest creatures, and frothing pint glasses, tap handles at Stanley's Northeast Bar Room stand out against the brick walls. The ranks of colorful silhouettes hint at the varied flavors of the 30 rotating draft beers, which may include Sierra Nevada’s Southern Hemisphere crafted with fresh New Zealand hops or New Belgium cocoa mole ale with guajillo and ancho peppers. Bottles click together, releasing foamy tears of brew from Deschutes, Flying Dog, Chimay, and Ommegang and punctuating the bustle of tastings and the murmur of dinner conversation.
The menu complements the beer list with half-pound burgers such as the Hangover Cure, which is topped with an egg, bacon, and gouda cheese. In the kitchen, chefs also cloak walleye fillets in beer batter and parmesan, and simmer a sauce of beer and cheese for mac ‘n’ cheese. Stanley’s food truck rolls around town, serving a variety of barbecue and tacos to pedestrians and robots stuck in “jog perpetually” mode.
