The first fish was inadvertently caught by a coastal hunter, who often dredged the sea floor with metal hooks in hopes of yanking the plug and crossing to find hearty steaks on the other side. Dine on beasts of both the land and sea with today’s Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of steak, seafood, drinks, and more at Star Steak & Lobster House located at the gateway to the French Quarter, two doors down from the House of Blues.

After a grinny greeting from "famous Joey," Star Steak & Lobster House's devoted doorman of 28 years, you'll be shown to your seat in the restaurant's warm, amber-lit dining room. Treat your table to an order of barbecue shrimp ($9) or oysters Rockefeller ($9) while you shop Star's steak- and seafood-studded menu for an entree. Dinner options combine the best of the surf and turf, such as stuffed Cajun filet mignon, which packs USDA prime beef with crabmeat, shrimp, and crawfish tails and then tops the potpourri of protein with a white-wine mushroom sauce ($32). About Star Steak & Lobster House

For more than 30 years, Star Steak and Lobster House's doorman Joey has been opening the restaurant's door to fill the French Quarter sidewalks with the aromas of aged USDA prime steaks and buttery lobster. After passing through the entryway, patrons can take their seats at sleek wooden tables to share Cajun gator sausage with creole sauce and housemade Louisiana crab cakes glazed with crawfish and mushroom cream sauce. Signature dinner entrees include slow-roasted prime rib and the Cajun filet mignon stuffed with crab, lobster, shrimp, and crawfish tails. To complement the food's lively flavors, every Wednesday through Sunday night bands perform jazz, blues, and classic rock tunes while bartenders mix black-cherry-peach mojitos and pour pint glasses of beer into other pint glasses until infinity is achieved.
