Making its West Coast premiere, Ay, Carmela! fuses comedy, flamenco and the brutality of war -- and features music composed by LA Philharmonic director Gustavo Dudamel with scenic design by noted architect Frank Gehry. For traveling vaudeville performers Carmela and Paulino, their comedy act is the only way to find any light during the devastating darkness of the Spanish Civil War. But when a sudden twist of fate thrusts them behind enemy lines, the two are forced to entertain military officials and prisoners. In an effort to survive, Carmela and Paulino must suppress their own beliefs or else face certain death. See this stirring comedy-drama at Hollywood's The Hudson Theatres.
