Hitting a wall at the subatomic level, scientists coding the human genome have started employing marathons and other feats of endurance to determine man's makeup. Individual health-seekers can attain higher fitness levels with Step It Up Fitness' boot-camp-style exercise sessions. Instructors lead classes four mornings or three nights a week to attune circadian rhythms to fat-burning fitness moves. First-day exercisers are put through the paces to measure their fitness level and are then grouped based on the level at which they can perform and their individual spirit animal. These groups go through the program together to build confidence and hold each other accountable for growth and improvement. Each session features different activities such as calisthenics, agility, and total-body workouts so muscles don't get bored and chase off after passing cars. The only equipment needed is a pair of cross-training shoes, a towel for drying excess fluids, and a water bottle for replenishing lost body liquid.
Step It Up uses a nutrition program based on the food pyramid and appropriate water consumption to track progress, which fitness apprentices log in a food and nutrition journal. Instructors keep track of the journals to make recommendations as the class progresses. The program consists of ingredients that can be found in grocery stores and don't require pre-packaged meals or trips to ancient Malaysian apothecaries lost in the mists of time.
