Q:

Hi StereoWest- I have a 2000 Ford Explorer, I do have the remote to unlock the car doors, would I require the bypass? Would I keep the remote to unlock the car and just receive a seperate button for the remote start? Thank you!

Nicole C.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

The explorer does have chipped keys, so you can use the basic bypass, but it would require a key to be put into the remote start. If you have only one key or don't wish to put a key in the remote start the advanced bypass would be the route to go for additional $75.

Q:

I am hoping to get this installed on my 2012 Toyota Rav4 and my 2001 Honda Accord. Will it work?

Susannah  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

Yes, the Rav4 will require a Advanced bypass due to the year and type of vehicle. the accord doesn't require the advanced bypass but I would suggest the $45 keyless entry upgrade so you will be able to lock and unlock vehicle while remote started. The factory Honda remote doesn't function when vehicle is started.

Q:

Do you recommend this on older vehicles? We have a 98 Grand Prix.

Tammy W.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

Yes, anything that is fuel-injected can have a remote start on your vehicle. I would suggest the keyless entry upgrade which gives you a 4 button remote for $45 extra.

Q:

If you upgrade packages so that you get the key that locks, unlocks, and remote starts, is it an addional $164 or an additional $14?

Chelsea M.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

It is an additional $164 that you would pay at time of install. Included is the advanced bypass, keyless entry, longer range, lifetime warranty on parts and labor, also includes trunk pop if vehicle has a trunk.

Q:

Since this is an after market accessory will it affect the vehicles factory warranty.

Debbie G.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

No, your factory warranty is not effected if you add an aftermarket remote start. We do remote starts for many local new car dealers in town with no issue with factory warranties.

Q:

Yukon XL and Dodge Caliber, neither push button start. The Caliber has one key and another that will only unlock the doors. Will they both work?

Corey C.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

Sorry for the delay! On both vehicles the advanced Bypass will need to be used. It allows us to use install the remote start with out a key to be installed in the remote start. Since you have one key for each vehicle you would have to purchase another key from the dealer which can range from $100-$150. The advanced bypass is $75. If you have any other questions feel free to 402-393-2100 and any of our Salesmen will be able to answer your questions.

Q:

Will this work on a 2013 Lexus GS 350 F Sport?

Steve  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

The Lexus will require the Advanced bypass, also we would need to do Unlock for $45 so you will be able to unlock vehicle when it is remote started. The advanced bypass allow you not to put a key in the remote start, and will integrate the remote to the factory security system. -- Chris Burroughs cburroughs@swautotoys.com Store Manager Stereo West Autotoys

Q:

We have a Ford Edge. Do I understand correctly that once this system is installed, we can no longer use our current method of unlocking our car? Do I understand correctly that we have to use only the Avital remote starter to unlock our car. Also, do I understand correctly that the installation is not $150 because you can't install it without doing the bypass which is an additional $75? ..........and once this system is installed, we can never use our key or remote unlock? Vy

Vy C.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

On the Ford Edge you will be able to use the factory keyless entry like normal whether vehicle is remote started or not, the Avital remote only does remote starting, it doesn't do lock and unlock unless you upgrade to the $164 package which locks, unlocks and remote starts the vehicle. That package also includes the advanced bypass so no key is required to be put in the remote start. You can do unlock on the one button which is $45 extra but is not required for a ford Edge.
