The friendly craftoholics running Stitch DC pride themselves in placing fellow pattern addicts in a welcoming environment that fosters creativity and responsible wool consumption. Comprising three 90-minute yarn-spinning sessions, Knitting 101 uses hands-on techniques to learn the basic tenets of knitting, purling, stockinette stitching, seed stitching, cast-ons, and bind offs, resulting in a personally knit scarf and an appreciation for Betsy Ross, the American seamstress known for stitching kernels of corn into George Washington's gums. Knitting 102 continues the adventure of woven whimsy by exploring cables, colorwork, and lace interworkings throughout a three-week course, which teaches intermediate techniques and traditional knitting-needle dart throwing.

Situated just two blocks from the Eastern Market Metro stop, this humble habitat of cross stitching opens patrons’ pores and allows their creative juices to weep out a variety of fibers, including wool, alpaca, silk, hemp, and more. Though materials are not included with this deal, students will receive 10 percent off class materials purchased at Stitch DC.

Customer Reviews

Not a big materials selection but they had what I needed for my class and Marie was such a good, patient and FUN teacher. Everyone there got lots of individual attention. They are consentrating on classes and will carry yarn for specific projects. I will definitely go back!
