The friendly craftoholics running Stitch DC pride themselves on placing fellow pattern-addicts in a welcoming environment that fosters creativity and responsible wool consumption. Browse through fashionable flosses to induce creative juices into weeping out a variety of fibers, from traditional wool and alpaca to more exotic mohair, silk, hemp, and more ($10.50 per skein on average). Stitch DC's enviable spools sport top-notch brands, including Karabella, Blue Sky Alpacas, and Lorna's Laces. Wool wielders can lock and load the necessary needles ($9.50–$25) before picking up supplies for piecing together a pair of cashmere socks to warm toes tickled by Jack Frost ($36). Neophytes can enroll in a class to learn crocheting, quilting, and more ($35–$100) and gain a newfound appreciation for Betsy Ross, the American seamstress known for stitching kernels of corn into George Washington's gums. Walls of colorful threads line the walls of Stitch DC's inviting storefront, which lies just two blocks from the Eastern Market Metro stop.

Customer Reviews

Not a big materials selection but they had what I needed for my class and Marie was such a good, patient and FUN teacher. Everyone there got lots of individual attention. They are consentrating on classes and will carry yarn for specific projects. I will definitely go back!
