What You'll Get
You don't need a covert handshake or private password to get into the groove that Secret Society plans to crank out at AMP by Strathmore in Bethesda. The acclaimed six-piece band is led by saxophonist Bryan Mills, who cut his teeth playing with the likes of Thievery Corporation, and go-go legend Chuck Brown. Drummer Wayne Thomas, vocalist Mike Madison and the rest of the crew cite influences ranging from John Coltrane to Rick James and beyond. Together, they lay down a smooth, "feel good" mix of R&B and go-go that makes for a one-of-a-kind D.C. sound. Catch them as they riff on songs by Stevie Wonder, Notorious B.I.G., Marvin Gaye, Lauryn Hill and more.
