What You'll Get

Early adventurers braved unknown lands armed with little more than all-terrain horses, a coal-burning GPS system, and plasma TVs useful only to barter for lukewarm porridge. Revel in the convenience of more advanced exploring with today’s Groupon to Chicago: The Game, an interactive tour from Stray Boots. Choose from the following options:

 • For $10, you get two tickets to one of three game zones (up to a $24 value).
 • For $18, you get four tickets to one of three game zones (up to a $48 value).
 • For $24 you get tickets for two to all three game zones (up to a $60 value)
 • For $48, you get tickets for four to all three game zones (up to a $120 value).

Players must have a U.S. cell phone capable of receiving texts and a digital camera or camera phone.

Chicago: The Game is an interactive tour that sets friends and family members loose on an exhilarating, knowledge-fueled undertaking guided by text-message clues, trivia, and riddles. Players may explore one or all three of the game zones: the Magnificent Mile with its blend of commerce and history, the Loop with its imperious skyscrapers, and Navy Pier with its Ferris wheel spinning above throngs of pedestrians and bewildered longshoremen. Clues point the way to such cultural hot spots as the Tribune Tower, the Chicago Water Tower, and the Smith Museum of Stained-Glass Windows.

At least one player on the team will need a U.S. cell phone to receive clues, and none of the self-guided tours requires previous knowledge of the city. Adventurers play at their own pace—most zones take two to three hours to finish—which allows them to spend more time learning about the city and photographing vibrant fire hydrants for aquacentric scrapbooks.
