Early adventurers braved unknown lands armed with little more than all-terrain horses, a coal-burning GPS system, and plasma TVs useful only to barter for lukewarm porridge. Revel in the convenience of more advanced exploring with today’s Groupon to Portland: The Game, an interactive tour from Stray Boots. Choose from the following options:

  • For $10, you get two tickets to one of three game zones (up to a $24 value).
  • For $24, you get two tickets to all three game zones (up to a $60 value).
  • For $18, you get four tickets to one of three game zones (up to a $48 value).
  • For $48, you get four tickets to all three game zones (up to a $120 value).<p>

Portland: The Game is an interactive tour that sets friends and family members loose on an exhilarating, knowledge-fueled undertaking guided by text-message clues, trivia, and riddles. Players may explore one or all of the game’s three zones, ingesting food and drinks along the cobblestone streets of Old Town/Chinatown, perusing Powell’s City of Books after sampling myriad beers at award-winning breweries in the Pearl District, or glancing at the walls of the Portland Art Museum. Clues point the way to culinary delights within destinations that include Portland’s oldest restaurant, in business for more than 100 years, where adventurers can sip on its signature beverage. Visit fair-trade coffee shops, swing by the 24-hour Church of Elvis, and exact revenge on embarrassing belly rumbles at Voodoo Doughnuts. At least one player on the team will need a US cell phone to receive clues, and none of the self-guided tours require previous knowledge of the city. Adventurers play at their own pace—most zones take two to three hours to finish—which allows them to spend more time learning about the city and photographing vibrant fire hydrants for aqua-centric scrapbooks.

Portland: The Game can be played with any US cell phone and plan. Normal text-message rates apply.
