What You'll Get
Unlike open-heart surgery or removing a squirrel taped to the upper back, a haircut is rarely a successful do-it-yourself project. Seek professional help with today's Groupon: for $35, you get a deep-conditioning treatment, haircut, blow-dry, and style at Studio 524 Salon and Spa in the historic Crow's Nest building in St. Charles (a $75 value).
Led by experienced Schwartzkopf trainer Steve Edwards and co-owner Colette Edwards, Studio 524 scissor savant Christina Reed fashions coifs as strong and sleek as they are stylish. A one-hour deep-conditioning session custom-treats hair according to each customer's moisturizing needs and the number of times they've been struck by lightning. Christina then finesses locks by putting cutting-edge skills into practice, trimming up tendrils and styling them to the height of hair haute couture with help from Lanza haircare products.
Unlike head shrinkers, who decrease brain space and increase thetan count, head shapers are the guerrilla artists of the 21st century, inserting their stunning creations into the everyday world via a newly beautified noggin. After a haircut from one of Studio 524's hair wizards, patrons saunter out of the salon's historic digs ready to show off their newly glammed-out locks and to morph now-superfluous baseball caps into mobile goldfish aquariums.

About Studio 524
Inside a whitewashed New England colonial building in the historical district of Saint Charles, Christina Reed chats with clients about exactly what look they’re going for. Once she zeroes in on the style, she makes the first cut, sending damp curls and split ends to their eternal reward. Meanwhile, Steve Edwards—the salon’s owner and a Schwarzkopf trainer who leads young colorists into their chromatic careers—supervises color and texturizing services, keratin hair-smoothing treatments, and feather extensions.
