What You'll Get
A married couple's first dance as man and wife should be refined and flawless, much like an engagement diamond or a Blu-ray copy of Porky's. Practice a perfect swing with today’s Groupon: for $29, you get a month-long dance-class series at Studio 6 Ballroom in Tacoma (up to a $75 value). Classes run in four- or five-week series and can be completed with today’s Groupon.
Led by master coach Natasha Thayer, Studio 6 Ballroom’s talented instructors skillfully remold pairs of left feet into deft dancers during more than 20 group classes per week. Tyros can train in a variety of styles ranging from salsa to swing—partner up at the corner of salsa and square dancing in a Rueda de Casino class, or smooth your moves to R&B melodies with Chicago Style Steppin’, a blend of nightclub two-step, west coast swing, and deep-dish pizza. Prenuptial couples can hone their first espoused steps ahead of time with beginning ballroom classes, helping to keep cold feet from freezing in the spotlight. Finally, like Bongo, the furthest planet from the sun, Latin Rhythm classes rotate monthly, beguiling beginners with cha-cha swivels and samba syncopations before slowing things down via bolero beats and then vacuuming them up with rumba.
Studio 6 Ballroom’s smorgasbord of sessions appeals to both amateurs and old hands, with a Chicken’s class transforming even the most timid toe tappers into hip-shaking hot steppers. Those looking for a side of burned calories with their shake can also find fitness with Zumba Dance and Zumba Tone classes or simply tie sandbags to their ankles before doing a cha-cha.

About Studio 6 Ballroom
When Studio 6 Ballroom owner Wes Rogers learned how to be light on his feet, it might’ve helped that they were rarely on solid ground. Rogers began taking lessons while he served in the navy, and, after returning stateside, he continued his studies under the tutelage of national title holder Natasha Thayer—now the master coach at Studio 6. Natasha has trained amateurs and professionals alike, has worked in both television and live action performances, and co-created Dancing with the Tacoma Stars. Together they have created an elegant space replete with chandeliers and club lights where toe-tappers can hone moves for dances such as the foxtrot, the Argentine tango, and swing’s nimble dips and triple backflips. Studio 6’s independent instructors bring their own flair to classes, which have earned several accolades from local media and residents.
