Rocketing to fame as part of the Miami-based group Bacilos, songwriter and lead singer Jorge Villamizar scored a number of hits, including "Tabaco y Chanel," "Caraluna," "Primer Millón" and "Pasos de Gigante" before the group disbanded in 2007. The six-time Grammy winner quickly launched a successful solo career, in addition to collaborations with Lena Burke and Álex Ubago. His latest album, El Dia Que Vuelva, delivered the No. 1 hit single "Dificil" and earned a Latin Grammy nomination. In addition to being a performer and sought-after songwriter, for artists like Marc Anthony, Villamizar is also a coach on Ecuador's edition of the popular talent competition The Voice. Now he brings his energetic beats to New York's Subrosa.
