About Sue Novy, OTA LMT LE, Licensed Massage Therapist
1.What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I have been in the medical/health industry since the 90's. I have an extensive background in how the body works- anatomy, kinesiology (the way joints move), muscle testing, and like to point out muscle groups that are typical instigators of pain. I am also licensed in Occupational Therapy as well, so often draw from that to enhance a session with techniques from that field.
2. What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The inspiration to run this business came from economic and personal job satisfaction arenas, I guess. I was overqualified in past massage employment and employers knew that. Also, call it 'expanding my horizons' to run a business with my own ideas. I like to be able to attend to clients more thoroughly in time and talent than I ever could working in the mainstream.
3. What do you love most about your job?
I love being a massage therapist. The combined credentials I hold give me a unique blend to attend to just about everyone. I combine massage therapy with occupational therapy for more involved physical issues. I am also in addition to all of that an Aesthetician, so hope to add some more 'spa-like' services for those who might have interest.
4. What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
One of the best reactions on a physical aspect was working on a gentleman with Parkinson's Disease who walked with difficulty using a cane. He walked out slowly after his session with his cane tucked under his arm under his own power. And a young woman who came in for a first-time massage who was very apprehensive. She made it through the session and was smiling afterward. Yes, I love being a massage therapist!
