Before photography, the only way people could preserve their most treasured memories was by forcing everyone around them to stand completely still for days at a time. Today's Groupon presents a less complicated option: for $50, you get a 30-minute photo shoot and a disc of images from Sugarbear Photography (a $325 value). The shoot will take place at the Pigeon Forge studio or at any public location of your choice within Sevier and Knox counties. This Groupon expires June 15.
As a professional natural-light photographer, Ginny Edwards Maxwell gained snap-happy experience after studying photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and running a model-scouting and management company. With the help of her graphic-designing sister, Kitty, Ginny formed Sugarbear to specialize in whimsical photographs of babies and children, teens and fashion, families, weddings, and other occasions, such as Bring Your Boss to the Bar Day. For the 30 minutes of camera hamming, customers can choose the studio or select a public setting of their choice. Ginny suggests that subjects wear simple clothing, and can assist with wardrobe choices if asked nicely and bribed with freshly minted Monopoly money.
Photography subjects are encouraged to bring mementos along for inclusion in the shutterbug shoot. After the session, customers receive a disc of the images taken—fine art prints, gallery wraps, and other soul-capturing doodads can be purchased for an additional fee. Prints start at $10 for a 5"x7" image and are available for purchase in a variety of sizes from wallet to poster.
