Shouldn't everyone get the wave front customization? Or are there patients where such customization is not required?

Hi Josh, Great question. Most patients are eligible for the customization, usually around 90 % of patients can get the customization. The primary difference between conventional and wavefront lasik is the mapping system that guides the laser. However, there are certain patients that it is NOT ideal, based on several factors which the doctor takes into consideration. As a general rule, the quality of vision with wavefront is superior and sometimes recommended especially for certain patients. However, many patients are excellent candidates for the intralase without customization, based on criteria such as the level and position of astigmatism, corneal depth, and level of near or farsightedness. Hope this helps! Thank you, Jerri Jones, Surgical Coordinator
