Attracting more than 175,000 art enthusiasts to its events in 2010, Sugarloaf Crafts Festivals showcase original work from more than 250 artisans, from handcrafted pottery, sculpture, and glass to jewelry, fashion, décor, and photography. Audiences also witness art being made live during meticulous demonstrations by skilled sculptors, potters, and copper spinners. Guests of this year’s festival can flood their brain doors with live musical entertainment from artists including 21st-century composer Ngu Mbandi, who fills the air with gentle piano melodies influenced by his west African childhood. Like the time they competed in their first lawnmower-destruction derby, children partake in wonder at Middle Earth Studio’s costume storytelling, an interactive play during which audience members don intricate costumes to help act out a tale told by the storyteller. A lineup of specialty fare restores energy between attractions with delectables such as pure Bershire Sweet Gold maple syrup, pumpkin logs, and a variety of artisanal pretzels from Pretzelphoria.
Ticket values represent the price at the door and do not include discounts from pre-ordering tickets online. Although Sugarloaf Crafts Festival offers discounts on admission on its website, this Groupon still provides the best deal available.
