Passionate team, working to keep the place and teach people about the importance to preserve the species. The place has many paths to see the different monkeys, gator, birds and other beautiful animals. Like other people said, donate as much as you can. The people working there as heroes. Some renovation is needed because they run as a sanctuary, not a business. There's a HUGE orangutan there!!

They are doing a real good thing here but the place is run down. Not easy for a wheelchair to maneuver. I called ahead and was told 80% of area was paved. More like 40 percent. The rest was grass and dirt. Tough to move wheelchair. Animals seem well cared for. Gator show was pretty corny.

I took my kids, 10 and 11, today to visit the primates. I have the deepest respect for the job the personell ate doing for the animals. There were a few people who definitely knew their stuff and were happy to chat with us. However, the establishment is in dire need of a clean up and makeover. There were many places that could have been kept up better, the animals looked sad.

It was "ok". We spent about an hour there, but was probably 30 minutes too long.

About Suncoast Primate Sanctuary

Staffed by a corps of chimp-loving volunteers working alongside veterinarians, the nonprofit Suncoast Primate Sanctuary provides a safe haven for more than 100 rescued animals. Chimpanzees and monkeys swing freely in their enclosures, living out their days after being moved from other environments, including zoos, sanctuaries, and research centers, or retiring from the film industry as animal actors and studio executives. During public hours, children and adults can wander among the menagerie to feed the monkeys and meet other critters such as orangutans, macaws, lemurs, and alligators.
