Five stars because this place needs more money. Please come here and/or donate. This is a place for primates that have nowhere else to go, so the facilities are sad. I felt that it was missing a fundamental educational aspect-- for example, when my family and I visited Big Cat Rescue, the volunteers thoroughly explained why the cats were there, how they wish they didn't have to be, and how to help

I was pleasantly surprised by this sanctuary. There are many animals, benches throughout, and play areas with toys for children. They have picnic benches do you can bring in food. However, it's small and needs a makeover with new toys and seating. Designate a couple hours for this event; not a full day.

About Suncoast Primate Sanctuary

Staffed by a corps of chimp-loving volunteers working alongside veterinarians, the nonprofit Suncoast Primate Sanctuary provides a safe haven for more than 100 rescued animals. Chimpanzees and monkeys swing freely in their enclosures, living out their days after being moved from other environments, including zoos, sanctuaries, and research centers, or retiring from the film industry as animal actors and studio executives. During public hours, children and adults can wander among the menagerie to feed the monkeys and meet other critters such as orangutans, macaws, lemurs, and alligators.
