I waited to post this until I tried a different lash place to make sure I wasn't being dramatic and that this lash tech was actually gaslighting me/making like it was my fault instead of hers.
Firstly, she arrived 10 minutes late for the appointment time. She did not apologize or acknowledge her lateness and I let it go. We walked into the room and there was a blanket on the table with no sanitary paper. Whatever, maybe it had just been washed.
Then after the stickers were put on my eyes it felt like one eye was not placed properly and I mentioned to the tech that it felt like I was unable to close my eyelids. Her response made it seem like that was typical for someone who was not used to lash lifts. After each step, she put a towel over my eyes and turned off the bright light, which made it less uncomfortable with my eyes unable to close. We then did the tint, with my eyes still unable to close. Before putting the towel on I could hear her answering text messages and I asked if I could put the towel on myself. I squeezed my eyelids due to the bright light, which caused the tint to go in my eyes. The tech acted quickly and rinsed my eyes with cold water and some kind of eyedrops.
She removed the stickers and gave me a mirror. They looked good, but I noticed one eye (the one that felt like the stickers were placed incorrectly) was more curled than the other. She agreed, and we reprocessed the less curled side. At this point it had been 2h. She did not place a towel the 2nd time so I asked her to turn off the light. It seemed like I had made her angry so I apologized and reassured her that if she was still working I didn’t mind, but if we were just letting it process for 15-20 minutes, and not covering with a towel, it would be much more comfortable with the light off. I asked about aftercare and after 3 hours we were done.
When I got to my car I had 3 missed calls from her. I’m not sure what changed, but she texted that she tried to reach out with follow-up on aftercare, even though I asked already. I also let her know that I noticed there was lash tint all over my shirt and asked how I should get it out. I guess that made her defensive and she responded, “Looks like when you squinched your eyes really hard, you rubbed your eyes and a chain effect happened with the lash tint… You were said your eyes was sensitive to Light. In this case you will no longer be a candidate for lash lift in the future.”
This was confusing to me, as after the incident with the lash tint, we continued for another hour without issue. Also, I did not blame her for the stain, I just asked her how to best get it out.
I responded, “Aren’t everyone’s eyes sensitive to light? Isn’t that why you placed a towel on top initially? I didn’t have a problem when you were working, just when eyelids were unable to fully close and there was no towel over my eyes.” She answered, “No…You are my first Client in 20 Years of being in this Business.”
Well, I just tried somewhere else. It was 1 hour, no sensitivity, no issues. The problem was the lash tech
