What You'll Get
While navigating the waves, remaining upright is vital for spotting the edge of the earth in time to savor how wrong science was. Stand up to geology with today’s Groupon to SUP Shack, formerly known as Tri Shop Santa Cruz. Choose between the following options:
- For $12, you get a two-hour standup-paddleboard rental (an $25 value).
- For $35, you get a two-hour beginner standup-paddleboard lesson and $100 toward an Angulo board purchase within seven days of the lesson (an $80 value).
Founded by endurance enthusiast Trudie Ransom, SUP Shack trains beginning boarders with provided equipment and equips athletes partaking in paddleboarding pastimes. Board rentals keep aqueous explorers on a standup steed for up to two hours of watery mischief in the Santa Cruz Harbor as they tone their cores and maintain upright equilibrium while fending off chain-swinging porpoises. Alternatively, by the end of a two-hour lesson, confident swimmers with no prior surfing, paddling, or standing experience can glide around the water, having absorbed the basics of standup paddling. Intro-course graduates unable to return to solid ground after the thrill of aqueous asphalt receive a $100 credit toward the purchase of a new Angulo board within seven days of the lesson ($759+).

About SUP Shack
Trudie Ransom knows just how addictive the sensation of standing above the waves can be. After just a few trips out on her board, she not only began training with the standup-paddleboarding master Andy Whitman from Angulo boards, but also opened up SUP Shack. From her experience shadowing Whitman, she decided the best way to introduce people to the sport was with Angulo's soft, 10-foot boards, which serve as an easy surface to learn on while spending a day on the waves or taking one of the shop's classes or tours.
