What You'll Get
Welcome to Groupon, Anchorage! For our inaugural deal, $10 gets you a half-dozen mixed-flavor custom cupcakes at Superstar Pastry Design. Since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Anchorage: restaurants, spas, sporting events, theater, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power."
If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (15 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll be emailed a gift certificate the next morning. You can print your Groupons or redeem them with our mobile app. Use them whenever you want until the deal expires—today's expires in six months. If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
Cupcakes were created during the First World Food Fight to provide handheld artillery support—previously, it took a team of seven men and a donkey to launch a full-sized cake. Equip portable deliciousness with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get a half-dozen custom cupcakes at Superstar Pastry Design (a $22 value).
Superstar Pastry Design creates every item from scratch using high-quality ingredients and customizes every order to ensure that each customer gets dessert that looks and tastes exactly right. Work up an appetite by contemplating the 1,500 possible cupcake combinations before stepping up to the Superstar Cupcake Bar to create mini monsters of flavor. Choose various combinations of cakes, fillings, frostings, and toppings for each of the six cupcakes, or let the experts work their craft on their own. Signature options range from the traditional vanilla bliss cupcake (vanilla cake, bavarian cream filling, and vanilla buttercream frosting) to more unusual choices such as the little prince cupcake (red velvet cake, fudge filling, cream-cheese icing, chocolate sprinkles, and a peanut-butter-cup topper).
The Alaska Journal of Commerce featured Superstar Pastry Design, and 73% percent of Urbanspooners recommend it. More than 450 Facebookers are fans of the sweet treats, and four Yelpers award the business a four-star average:
- A cupcake bar, established last November, offers adventurous customers the ability to piece together their own creations out of ingredients like chocolate candies, various batters and a selection of frosting flavors. – Sean Manget, Alaska Journal of Commerce
- The staff is fantastic! Not to mention the delicious pastries they offer. – Lindsay G., Yelp
