About Sushi Guru

Sushi Guru wants each of its rolls to be an experience, and the restaurant's jalapeño hamachi roll is certainly that. This particular roll is stuffed with crab and avocado and topped with yellowtail and thin slices of jalapeño. Its mixture of flavors, textures, and spice caught the attention of Charlotte Magazine, which included Sushi Guru in its 2013 Best of the Best awards for "Best Use of Jalapeño."

All told, the restaurant boasts more than 20 specialty rolls, from a caterpillar roll with barbecue grilled eel to a dynamite roll with deep-fried spicy tuna. These specialties share the menu with more traditional rolls, sashimi, and an extensive cocktail list highlighted by sake. The sushi guru himself, Cy Santos, also leads sushi-making classes, allowing fans to craft their own rolls even if their backyards aren't suitable for growing sushi on the vine.
