The traditional method for preparing sushi requires slices of raw fish to be held over unlit fires in order to secure that signature uncooked flavor. Explore such innovative foodsmithing with today's Groupon at Sushi House of Newark. Choose between the following options:

  • For $20, you get a Japanese dinner for two (up to a $41 total value). Dinner for two includes:

    • A choice of edamame (a $4 value) or shumai (a $5.50 value)
    • One hand roll (up to a $9.50 value)
    • Two specialty rolls (up to a $13 value each)
  • For $29, you get a Japanese dinner for four (up to a $76.50 total value). Dinner for four includes:

    • A choice of edamame (a $4 value) or shumai (a $5.50 value)
    • Two hand rolls (up to a $9.50 value each)
    • Four specialty rolls (up to a $13 value each)

Tucked away in the Ironbound district, Sushi House of Newark's bright maroon and pale green walls and live bamboo accents flank a piscean portal to the Land of the Rising Sun. Steamed shrimp nestle into dumpling blankets in the shumai, and the salty soy beans of the edamame are a classic Japanese tavern tradition, much like singing karaoke, or forgetting the words while singing karaoke. The extensive menu of conical hand rolls includes such options as the eel, cucumber, and avocado of the Dragon roll and the finger-snapping shrimp, mango, and brown rice packed into the Jazz roll. Chef's specialty rolls draw international inspiration: the Brazilian sambas in with stripe bass tempura, shrimp and mango; the Miami rolls up chicken tempura, salmon and asparagus; and the American Dream throws crispy salmon skin, crab, yellow tail, avocado, and special creamy sauce into an all-out melting pot, borne to the table by a bald eagle patriotically singing Bruce Springsteen covers.
