Like romance novels, dumplings fit tempting tidbits into a small but steamy package. Passionately devour cuisine with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of sushi and sake at Sushi on the Rocks.

Sushi on the Rocks pleases the palates, eyes, and ears of patrons with a menu of fresh Japanese fare, refreshing libations, and live jazz and blues. Culinary expeditions can begin with peel-popping edamame ($5) or shumai ($7), steamed shrimp dumplings that whet appetites for both seafood and saunas. Executive sushi chef John J. Lee's 60 nigiri and maki options ($3.99–$14.99)—ranging from sweet fresh fruit sushi to elaborate specialty rolls—truncate the dithering of indecisive appetites. The Playboy roll bundles spicy tuna with asparagus and tempura shrimp ($14.99), and the seafaring ingredients cling together for comfort as gastronomic arsonists set rolls ablaze. A sweet-tooth sating finale appears in the form of banana tempura ice cream ($7), featuring bananas plucked from the pantries of tropical fish.

Thirst-quenching hot sake ($6+) can warm chilled throats and the hearts of fish-loving misers, while more than 10 varieties of wines spare diners the arduous task of trying to juice raisins. Melodies swim through the elegant dining room Thursday–Sunday evenings, tickling eardrums with the sounds of jazz and blues.

Sushi on the Rocks pleases the palates, eyes, and ears of patrons with fresh Japanese fare, refreshing libations, and live jazz tunes. Owner John J. Lee crafts nearly 80 nigiri and maki options that range from sweet fresh fruit sushi to elaborate specialty rolls, such as the spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, and asparagus bundled into the Playboy roll. Thirst-quenching hot sake can warm chilled throats and the hearts of fish-loving misers, while more than 10 varieties of wines spare diners the arduous task of juicing their own raisins. Melodies swim through the elegant dining room Thursday and Saturday evenings, tickling eardrums with the sounds of jazz.

Customer Reviews

Food was pretty good but I recommend improvement of the customer service and hospitality in regards to the servers. The girl we had was not friendly and just a little more friendly and personable with a couple smiles would have been great. I expect someone to at least pretend that thy want to serve me.

We always enjoy ourselves. SOTR is a top notch establishment that we were introduced to thru Groupon... but have become regular customers because Dave, I believe (the owner) and the entire staff, are great people and the food is THE BEST! We just LOVE it!!
