What You'll Get
The sea has much to teach us: its tides foretell the lunar cycle, its salt treats us to delicious shark jerky, and its colorful creatures prove that nature looks better in Blu-ray. Celebrate the big salty puddle's sagacity with today's Groupon: for $7, you get $14 worth of sushi, noodle bowls, and more at Sushipop, located on Katy Freeway. This Groupon is valid for dine-in and carryout.
Founded by the owners of The Fish, Sushipop's menu features fresh specialty rolls and noodle bowls for on-the-go Japanese dining. Sidle up to the counter and toss back a smooth California roll ($4.50), or opt for specialty rolls such as the Tuna on Fire, a spicy tuna tube accented with cucumbers, jalapeños, and a drizzle of house fire sauce ($9). Accessorize your order with single-serving sashimi in the form of “pop it” pieces ($1.50+), or go the combo route to tack a miso soup or salad onto a set of sushi such as the High Roller, a trident's worth of shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and spider hand rolls ($10.25). Palates passionately opposed to deep-sea dining can slurp the grilled-chicken udon soup ($7) or nosh extras such as fried dumplings ($4) and edamame ($3.50).
Bask in the chic, wasabi-green glow of Sushipop's ultramodern décor while imbibing a soda ($2) or iced tea ($2.50). Although this Groupon is not valid towards alcohol, Sushipop also offers wine, beer, and premium sakes to share with friends, coworkers, and sea-monkeys of legal drinking age.
The Mighty Rib give Sushipop's vegetarian selection a favorable review. The Houston Press blog Bounty of the Sea and my Houston featured Sushipop. Forty Yelpers give Sushipop an average of 3.5 stars and 81% of Urbanspooners like it.
- With a sweeping mural on one wall, flatscreen TVs showing news and sports, and an assembly line of sushi chefs to watch, it's simultaneously multi-sensory and inviting. – Katharine Shilcutt, Bounty of the Sea
- Very clean, prices are pretty decent for a casual sushi joint. I enjoyed the spicy tuna taco so much at the Yelp event, that I had to go back. – Kelly N., Yelp, 1/2/11
