Though canines love tennis for its bouncy yellow balls, humans appreciate the freedom to bark loudly with each swing and bury their favorite rackets all over the court. Become a tennis beast with today's Groupon to Sutton East Tennis Club, located between 59th and 60th Streets, under the 59th Street Bridge. Choose between the following options:

  • For $70, you get one hour of prime court time (up to a $188 value). Prime court times are Monday–Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • For $45, you get one hour of non-prime court time (up to a $135 value). Non-prime court times are any time except from Monday–Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

With eight red-clay courts nestled inside a 45,000-square-foot air structure, the Sutton East Tennis Club provides racketeers with a first-rate facility for satisfying net-sport cravings. The gigantic indoor space provides forceful lobbers and power hitters with plenty of back-court space as well as ample protection from shot-disturbing gusts of wind, racket-denting hailstorms, and the mentally jarring heckles of snowmen. Use your 60-minute court rental to stage a friendly singles face-off against a coworker, or organize a doubles duel to reassert your dominance over the couple next door. The club is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, though it closes between May 2 and the week after Labor Day.

Sutton East Tennis Club

Sutton East Tennis Club brings the physics and feel of outdoor tennis indoors with a covered facility located directly under the Queensboro Bridge. While rain, snow, or large-scale ladybug migration may impede practice outdoors, Sutton East can weather all of nature’s storms without sacrificing the experience of playing on a classic tennis surface.

On eight red clay courts, students of all ages practice their racquet skills and follow through with guidance from experienced instructors. To ensure their lessons match the quality of their facility, each staff member dispenses pearls of tennis wisdom according to a curriculum overseen by Dr. Anthony Scolnick, a certified USPTR tennis professional and former All-American. Parents and friends can watch each lesson seated in lawn chairs on the club's wooden patio.
