What You'll Get
Without an agile body with which to match wits, the lazy cerebral cortex must TiVo reruns of Dancing with the Solar Plexus. Today's Groupon unites a nimble mind with live-action muscle toning: for $15, you get three Sunset Yoga classes from SWAT Team Fitness, a $30 value. Classes take place Thursday evenings on Lake Pontchartrain near West End Park.
A stimulating yoga session unites the mind and the body, and SWAT Team Fitness maximizes that holy internal matrimony weekly by setting up its classes during scenic lakeside sunsets. Each supple sage instructor aims to accommodate all types of mat-standers, from male novices to female veterans to chain-mail veterinarians. With the sun setting over the lake's horizon, you'll focus on appreciating each sun-kissed moment, stretching your limbs and sharpening focus as you journey through yoga's classic moves and the Cretaceous period. Since today's Groupon is good for three classes, you'll get to watch the sun hide behind the lake at different times each class.
If you're new to yoga, this is a great chance to learn the downward dog, upward dog, and the omniscient narrator. Yoga stretches your muscles, relieving stiffness and pain; it also increases flexibility and strength (deep core muscles support each pose), which will improve your range of motion, balance, and posture, all vital to moving up in the corporate world, seeing over the steering wheel, and slicing your morning bagel.
Classes are subject to weather, and if you're under 18 you must bring your parent to sign a waiver. You must provide your own mat and water and email to schedule 24 hours in advance.

About Affirm Fitness
It may seem counterintuitive to some, but Affirm Fitness’s head fitness trainer, Lauren Leitner, also owns a biscotti-making business. Of course, all of the desserts she doles out are low in fat, making them tasty complements to the healthy lifestyle that she hopes to impart upon her students at Affirm Fitness. There, she and fellow trainers lead exercisers of all stripes through boot camps that are either traditional or tailored to new moms. Cardio-and-sculpt boot camp shows exercisers how to have fun as they transition between drills in agility, interval training, and body-weight resistance. In baby-friendly Bootie Camp, participants push strollers a little bit faster than usual for a cardio workout that allows them to spend time with little ones while they improve themselves. Moms can even spend a little time sculpting muscles with hand weights or by lifting diaper bags filled with bricks. Affirm Fitness’s class schedule also includes dance-inspired Zumba cardio workouts, relaxing yoga, and TRX suspension training.
