Sweet Cafe 1739
If a cafe's baked goods come from the freezer, is it really even a cafe? That was the question bugging Arnaldo Perez and Lydia Negron. They were so frustrated by the dearth of freshly baked baguettes and made-from-scratch desserts at local cafes, that they took matters into their own hands. Thus, Sweet Cafe 1739 was born. Of course, it should be a given that the eatery's pastries and desserts are always homemade, from lightly bruleed New York-style cheesecake to glazed cream horns. But the cafe doesn't stop at sweets—the cooks also whip up made-to-order breakfast as well as soups and salads during lunch, making the restaurant far more than just a quick stop for locally roasted coffee.
